Granny Had A Washboard
Midsummer Market Buy now (Album CD/MP3 or Song MP3)

Granny had a washboard, Granny had a tub,
Granny did her washing with a scrub scrub scrub,
Granny had a mangle to squeeze the water out,
And when she caught her finger well you should have heard her shout!

Chorus:
Rub-a-dub-a scrub a load of bubbles at the double
In a tub and take the trouble if we want the washing clean.

Granny had a clothes horse that never gave a neigh;
It helped her dry her washing on a rainy day.
She never saw it move, but once she had a fright,
When something ate the carrots in the middle of the night.

Granny put her washing out at half past nine
On a bright and breezy morning as the sun did shine.
Granny had a clothes line and Granny had a prop,
And Granny dried her washing with a flip flop flop.

When Granny did the washing all the birds began to sing,
And a cat around the corner did a Highland fling.
She boiled up all her hankies in a kettle on the range,
But when she made a cup of tea it tasted rather strange.

She tipped in the starch, and you should have heard the din
When she finished all the washing and the dog fell in.
He dried off in an hour, and you should have heard him wail
'Cause his fur was stiff and starchy and he couldn't wag his tail.

Granny saved her money up and bought a new machine,
The only thing she needs to make her clothes all clean:
Now she puts on her thimbles, and as we sing along,
She rattles out a rhythm to the wash board song.
